Architecture as I see it

I have come to understand and appreciate that which is most needed, yet often missing, in those who practice the profession of technology architecture.  Whether the architect is responsible for infrastructure, software or the enterprise itself, there are certain key things beyond the technology that they should be paying closer attention to.  They should observe not only what people do (business activities), but also why they do it (work culture, business climate, organizational dynamics), how they do it (existing systems, business processes, workflows, manual tasks), and where they do it (local vs. global, factory floor vs. desk vs. out and about, tech savvy vs. more primitive locations).  They have to have the wisdom and discipline to see that this is not just a backlog of issues to solve and features to implement. It is a living, organic being that has evolved into what it is, reaching the state it is currently in.  The question they do need to answer is this: How do I process the s...

Ramblings around Quantum physics and coaching

I am currently reading a book titled: Physics of the Impossible. In a chapter on teleportation, I found this stream of thoughts spill over…. Maintaining the momentum, keeping the continuous flow of progress during coaching. The State of Quantum Coherence. Transfer of information through unison (where 2 individuals vibrate/resonate on the same frequency) resulting in a state of quantum coherence that leads to informational/ consciousness teleportation While coaching someone, you need to work on 2 levels simultaneously. The 1st level is the present self that deals with goals and challenges that the individual is facing or is aware of. The 2nd level is the future self , this is a subconscious, waiting to happen set of futures that is waiting for the present self to decide which one of the endless possibilities it wants to manifest. Of course, each of the levels may take precedence over the other in a state of continuous flux. The present self produces changes to the person’s current c...

Content, yet Striving

“Can I be filled with calm sense of content, yet strive to achieve?” I asked. to be continued...

Simplicity... is it that Simple?

"Simplicity is the Most Profound"... I have no idea where did I read this line, nor how did it creep into my consciousness, but I found myself using it in a corporate meeting the other day. In the daily grind of my work I come across many instances where being able to state something simply , is a task of great complexity (...mmmm, that's a bit of an oxymoron, or is it?) . To be able to simplify a concept in terms of expressing it without compromising its integrity, nor sacrificing the extent of its depth can be tricky at times. Actually you may land up complicating matters in the process of simplifying them. Take my line of work as an examples; I am a Solution Architect working for an IT organization. In my day-to-day interactions I am always trying to simplify concepts, break them down into smaller, more pliable pieces that everyone can digest. Here is the irony, this is not a simple activity. First of all I have to size up my audience, figure out their composition (Ex...

A simple line

We arrive to this world with an Aasel, a Paintbrush and a Vision. Then we go through life trying to figure out what to do with the Aasel and the Brush, what should we paint? At times the vision is so clear and vivid in our mind and the imagery flows through the brush creating a masterpiece. We stare in disbelief. Is it the brush that holds the magic? Or it is the canvas that had the image hidden within it all this while, and we merely brushed the dust? And sometimes we draw a simple line.

Flying Kites

"How do I take charge of my destiny?" I asked. "Do you know how to fly a Kite?" He asked smiling. "I get a kite, I take it to an open space, look for the wind direction, hold its string and GO…" I answered hurriedly. "You mean LET GO!" he exclaimed. "You have to Let GO, then only would the Kite take off", he continued. "Of course once in a while you tug on the string to check on the Kite, but not too hard and not for too long", he proceeded explaining. "In order for your destiny to take you where you are meant to go, you must Let GO, just like a Kite", he concluded.

Trying to Make sense

Throughout time Man's quest has been trying to make sense of it all. Whether its Nature, Birth, Sickness or even an eye twitch. We as humans are driven from within with an innate need to connect the dots. To find a meaning to everything. To find a rationale that explains it all, a Grand theory that explains all things. At times our urge was so strong and lead us to some of the greatest discoveries, and most of the time it did not. Many of us grew up learning that the virtue of asking "WHY" is far more important than asking "WHAT". Its almost like we assumed no significance to knowing things if we only could know Why they are what they are . As children, we were taught to ask questions. It was claimed to be a sign of intelligence. Smart Kids ASK QUESTIONS, and then in turn, ANSWER them. Or as one of my childhood teacher said, only those who know some, know that there is more to ask about. So, WHY do people fear connecting with others, yet crave it? WHY is math so...
